To upload a link to a document that is not stored in Transform Content Center:

  1. Create a text (.txt) file containing the URL of the document in a location accessible by Transform Content Center.

It does not matter what the text file is named.

  2. Upload the text file, as described in Uploading Documents, specifying a DocType index value of 3rd.

Enter values for all required indexes and for any optional indexes that you want to use as search criteria.

When specifying the file to upload, do not enter the URL directly in the File field.

The document link is stored in the specified category with the specified index values.

Notes

  • When retrieving a linked document, the Transform Content Center application does not check whether the document exists. If the document has been moved or deleted from the specified location, the following error message appears:
    The page cannot be displayed

  • The DocType index value 3rd is reserved for document links. Do not use this value for any other documents.
  • This feature is available only if your Runtime Server license includes the Third Party integration module.
