Service Settings

The table below shows the storage services that run in the background.

This service: Does this:
Auto Delete Service Deletes documents when they reach their specified deletion date.
Email Service Sends email.
Offline Service Transfers documents to offline storage when they reach their offline date.
Scanned Batch Processor

Takes scanned batches from the Scanning Queue and splits them into their component documents.

This service runs only if your product license permits use of the OCR module.

Scanned Document Processor

Takes individual documents from the Scanning Queue, matches them against patterns and searches, and then stores them in the appropriate Scanning category.

This service runs only if your product license permits use of the OCR module.

Subscriptions Service Counts the number of documents posted to a subscription and, if necessary, creates emails with document attachments to be sent.

To configure the storage services:

  1. On the admin Home page, click Service Settings.
  2. Select the Runtime Server you want to configure.
  3. Configure the services as described in the table below.

    To: Do this:
    Stop a service Clear the checkbox next to the service name.
    Start a service Select the checkbox next to the service name.
    Specify an interval at which a service runs Select the Interval option for the service, and then enter the interval in minutes.
    Specify a time of day at which the service runs

    Select the Time of Day option for the service, and then enter the time at which the service runs.

    Time of day is set to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC); not local time.

    Specify the server from which mail generated by the Email Service is sent Enter the name of the Mail Server and the Mail Server Port to be associated with the Email Service.
    Enable 8-bit MIME encoding for email messages

    Select Use 8-bit MIME.

    When this option is cleared, email messages are encoded using 7-bit MIME encoding.

    Specify the From address for mail sent by the Subscriptions Service

    Enter the From Email Address for the Subscriptions Service.

    If you do not specify a From address, the service retrieves the hostname and domain name of the computer on which it is running to construct the From address in the form:

    SubscriptionService@HostName.DomainName

  4. Click Save.

Configuring SMTP Relay Restrictions on the Transform Content Center Server

By default, most SMTP servers block computers from relaying unwanted mail through the virtual server. In order to send email, the Runtime Serverr must be able to relay messages through your SMTP server.

To remove relay restrictions on IIS 6.0:

  1. In IIS Manager, right-click the SMTP virtual server for which you want to remove relay restrictions, and then click Properties.

  2. Click the Access tab, and then click Relay.

  3. In the Relay Restrictions box, select Only the list below and then specify the Runtime Server.

If you are using a different SMTP server, refer to the SMTP server documentation for information about configuring SMTP restrictions.

About 8-bit MIME

Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 include a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) service, which can be used as a relay host. By default, this SMTP service advertises 8-bit Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME), and allows 8-bit MIME messages to be relayed. Some products, including the following, cannot handle 8-bit MIME messages:
